Iconic Smith Bros. Store To Liquidate All Inventory In Retirement Sale

–Beloved, 38-year-old location to close; once-in-a-lifetime discounts available on horse tack and equipment, boots and apparel, roping and barrel-racing products, horse care supplies and much more.

DENTON, Texas (10/13/16)—After 38 years, Smith Bros.—the Western riding retailer beloved by riders, ranchers, ropers, barrel-racers and other horse enthusiasts from across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma—is selling all inventory from its north Denton store in a historic retirement sale.

The 10,000-square-foot, ranch-like store at 472 Ganzer Rd. is well known in the Western riding community for its vast inventory of saddles, horse-riding tack, ropes, training equipment, barrel-racing supplies, clothing, boots, horse-care products, gifts and much more, said Arnold L. Jacobs, Director of Field Operations for Tiger Capital Group, which is conducting the sale.

“Prices have been reduced in every department for this extraordinary event,” Jacobs said. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Western riders to equip themselves and their horses, as there are literally hundreds of great deals on every national, high-quality brand in Western riding.”

The store will be well stocked, Jacobs added, because Smith Bros. is emptying its warehouse and bringing in all of its inventory for sale to the bare walls. “Right now there is plenty of stock, but shoppers are encouraged to come in early to get the best selections, as this inventory will not be replenished,” he said.

The same discounts are also available at www.SmithBrothers.com, Jacobs noted. During the sale, Tiger Group will continue to honor customers’ outstanding gift cards and to accept all major credit cards.

The inventory includes Western horse tack and equipment for barrel racing, roping, reining, show ring, and trail-riding, as well as a wide selection of horse bits, saddles, saddle pads, horse boots, stirrups, halters and leads, headstalls, bell boots and more. “The saddles range from basic Western models to gold-plated saddles worth thousands of dollars,” Jacobs noted.

Western-style boots and apparel by all of the top brands are available, and the sale also includes Smith Bros.’ extensive inventory of roping and barrel-racing products, including roping bags, accessories and roping tack as well as collapsible barrels, poles, quirts and other barrel-racing products. Lastly, the inventory includes a wide variety of horse care products, supplements and grooming gear, from first aid supplies, to barn and trailer accessories.

Founded in 1978, by the Smith family, the north Denton store initially earned its reputation for high-quality roping and barrel-racing supplies but grew to become a top retailer of Western apparel, tack and horse care supplies as well. Located on the north side of Denton toward Sanger past U.S. Highway 380, the store for decades has been a favorite stop for Western riders from around the region, Jacobs said.

“Smith Bros. is out in the country and has a lot of surrounding acreage, with a horse corral in back,” he explained. “People pulling their horse trailers from, say, Dallas to Oklahoma, have always known they could stop here to go shopping while their horses enjoyed the pasture. It’s just a cool place, much beloved by the local riding community.”

Sale hours are Mon.-Wed., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thurs.-Fri., 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
